If you own a small business you owe it to yourself to check out Google Local Business Center.
I’ve used business listings with Google with success in the past to drive traffic and phone calls to small businesses, but Google has really improved this service.
The new features in Google local business Center allow you to customize your listing to attract more customers.
You can customize how your business listing is seen on Google and on Google maps, and you can upload photos, specials, coupons or other information that you want customers to see when they search for you on Google. Plus you can tie your listing into Google Analytics to see how people are searching for you and what they’re searching for.

You may not realize this, but Google accounts for about 65% of search engine traffic according to ComScore (although Google argues that figure is in the 80s) and about 30% of Internet traffic according some of the other figures I’ve heard. This means it probably worth your time to set up your small business with Google.
A business listing will help people who are looking for your phone number, your address, your cross streets and your web site while providing you with valuable feedback if you use Google Analytics.
You will still need to design a website and marketing funnel that funnels prospects from Google into your marketing funnel, where you can convert them into customers by providing exceptional value. That is a little outside the scope of this article, but the bottom line is this: provide more value than whatever it is you’re asking for, whether it be an e-mail address or an order.
