“You Don’t Have What It Takes”

By  Jason Ayers

In the next few minutes, you’re going to discover why you end up feeling stuck, why you don’t have what you want in your life and what you can do about it.

“It works for all these other people, but it just doesn’t work for me.” I told myself after my first major product launch.

I felt like crap…

And I felt trapped.

I had just spent a year creating a high-ticket information product and I only sold a few copies.  Meanwhile, I was watching the “gurus” make millions of dollars right before my eyes.  Other people were doing it, but “I just didn’t have what it takes.”

Have you ever felt like that about something in your life?

It’s not very much fun, is it?

It Seems So Easy for Everyone Else

One of the biggest problems with our culture is that very few people talk about their failures.  We think it will make other people look down on us.  We think it will hurt our reputations.

I think that’s a load of garbage.

Here’s why…

Success Mindset
Successful People Start From a Belief That They Have What It Takes to Succeed

Successful people are usually successful because they try a lot of things and they fail a lot.

But, successful people do one thing differently.  Successful people give it all they’ve got and when something doesn’t work, they pick themselves up and try again – full out, all heart.

The question is, what is stopping you from playing full out?

You Have a Big Obstacle In Your Path

If you’re not getting what you want in life, it’s because something is stopping you.  That makes sense, right?

Now, this is the moment of truth where I can be a marketer and tell you it’s not your fault or where I can be your coach and tell you the truth.

My mission is to set people free, so here’s the truth – “You don’t have what it takes to get what you want.”

I don’t believe that for a second, but the problem is, you do, and you keep telling that to yourself.

We need to deal with that.

Every time you think about chasing your dreams, approaching your potential soulmate or just doing what makes you happy, there is a little voice in the back of your head telling you you’re not good enough.  Maybe your mind uses different words, but if you dig deep, you’ll discover it’s saying “you’re not good enough”, isn’t it?

What You Want Requires Huge Up-Front Effort

Limiting Beliefs
You Didn’t Quit As A Kid – You Just Believed You Could Ride the Bike. What’s Stopping You Now?

Do you remember learning how to ride a bicycle or learning how to drive a car?

How much work was it at first?  How much focus and concentration did it take?

How much effort and attention does it take now?

Not very much, right?

In life, we learn that there are no detours past being an amateur.  We wish like hell that there were, but there aren’t.  It’s just something that we all have to go through.  And amateurs make mistakes – they “fail” a lot. It’s just part of the learning process.

The best we can hope for is a mentor or coach who will help us go from amateur to average to professional a little faster, but we still have to go through the process, don’t we?

Let me ask you a question that I already know the answer to…

Would you tell a kid to stop and give up after he falls off the bike the first time?

Of course not, right?

So why do we fail to start, quit too soon or even worse, give a half-hearted effort, when we are pursuing something we really want?

Because…

Your Mind Is Programmed to Sabotage You

At some point in life, you went for something you wanted and you didn’t get the result you desperately wanted.  You were crushed, and you told yourself a story that went something like this…

“I’m not good enough.  I don’t have what it takes.  Other people can do it, but it just doesn’t work for me.  Some people have all the luck.”

Those are “limiting beliefs” that you make up…

Now this is where your mind really started to trip you up.

He who says he can and he who says he can’t are usually both right. – Confucious

Our minds have something called a reticular activating system – that’s just a fancy way to say that we try to validate or to prove our beliefs are true.

This system helps successful people succeed and it helps you to fail.

If you have the belief that “I’m not good enough…” or “I don’t have what it takes..” then your mind is going to do everything it can to prove you are right.

Are You Stuck In This Negative Cycle?

If you already think you can’t do something before you start, how much effort are you going to put into it?

Are you going to blow past the obstacles or are you going to lose steam and quit?

Are you even going to start?

Remember the reticular activating system?  Well, this is where it really kicks into gear.

Now that you’ve just flopped again, the voice chimes in and says, “See, I told you that you don’t have what it takes.”

Pretty nasty cycle, right?

It builds more and more and more proof that you can’t get what you want….

And it’s all B.S.

Here’s How to Fight Back & Get What You Want In Life

Change Your Limiting BeliefsIf you aren’t getting what you want, then your mind is working against you.

Here’s how you can fight back….

You need to deal with and replace the limiting belief that’s lying to you and telling you that you are not good enough.

Realizing it’s there is the first step – just start being aware of it.

Start Focusing On Your Strengths & How Great You Really Are

The next step is to start looking for evidence that you are good enough. What have you done that has worked – big or small? What’s worked? Start disproving that voice that say’s “I’m not good enough.”

Our brains don’t normally do this, but you can start doing it consciously.  List all the times you’ve wanted something and you’ve been successful – even partially successful.

Start to disprove your limiting belief.
